Why Winter Movement is Arguably The Most Important

Struggling to stay consistent with Pilates in winter? Here’s why movement matters more than ever when it’s cold, and how to make it actually feel good.
Let’s be honest – it’s dark, it’s cold, and your doona has never looked more appealing. Getting to a Pilates class in winter can feel like a mission, even when you know you’ll feel better afterwards... but here’s the thing: your body still wants to move. In fact, it probably needs it more than ever.
When the temps drop, circulation slows down. Your fascia gets tight and inflexible, your joints stiffen, and your energy can take a hit. That low-key tired, bloated, flat feeling? It’s not just the weather, it’s your body calling out for movement. The right kind of movement.
Winter is actually one of the most important times to stay consistent with your training, especially something like reformer Pilates. Not the slow, stretchy kind (although there’s a place for that too), but proper, athletic reformer Pilates that gets your blood flowing, lymphatic system moving, and muscles firing without smashing your adrenals.
At Core Culture, our classes are designed to work with your body, not against it.
Think:
Heated studios (so you’re not shivering through footwork)
Seamless movement that warms you up without the burnout
A little fascia work to help you de-puff and move better
Music that makes it feel a bit luxe, a bit sexy, and a lot less like “just exercise”
And if motivation is the issue? You’re not alone. But winter consistency doesn’t have to mean 5 sessions a week. Book in twice. Stick to it. Make it part of your week that feels good – not like a chore.
You’ll walk out feeling clearer, warmer, and less like you want to murder everyone by 3pm.
Need a nudge?Try our intro offer – 4 weeks of unlimited classes at our Newport or Cammeray studios. We’re not here to guilt you into working out. We’re here to help you move in a way that actually works.
